Timezone: US Central

Character's Name: Sho Minamimoto (More commonly known as “Pi-Face” or “The Grim Heaper”)
Series/Fandom: The World Ends With You
Original/Alternate: Original

Age: 18
Gender: Male
Species: Reaper (Will be explained in history)
Appearance: Sho is a pretty good looking guy, despite being a math nerd and a little bit crazy. He’s lithe, but powerfully built, with a hunched posture and a dangerous look. His darkish grey hair is somewhat long, styled like a lion’s mane, and his eyes are an amber gold. Also, he has a black tattoo that covers his entire left hand like ink, and swirls up his wrist in a flame-like pattern. The tips of his fingers on that hand are hooked into small claws.

As for fashion, he’s very fond of black, grey, and all of the shades in-between, along with a little bit of red. He constantly wears a red bandana on his head, covered again by a black baseball cap. A lot of his clothing tends to have well placed rips and shreds. He also knows how to fit himself, so don’t expect a baggy mess either.

Personality: Sho is a tad, shall we say, special. Instead of missing screws, you could say that he has too many? The man is smart, no doubt about it, but in a way that makes you think he’s stupid at the same time.

Sho loves math, numbers, and anything else that might be related to it. It’s unusual for him to even speak so much as a sentence without making some sort of algebraic reference. But he’s not a shut in nerd either, he knows how to interact with people, if a bit unconventionally.

Also: He’s nuts. His energy level can go from completely manic, to lazy and subdued in the blink of an eye, and it’s pretty close to impossible to tell what he’s thinking about. And he’s really, really loud. He carries a megaphone around with him, and if he’s feeling particularly passionate, he’s not afraid to use it.

And, um, not a really nice guy. He likes making fun of people, and getting a laugh at their expense isn’t a problem with him. There are probably types out there that he likes, and is nice to in his own different way, but not many. (Although, I imagine him to be quite a crowd pleaser at parties. This is just me however.) And he likes things his way, if he can have it.

One last thing, he’s a manipulative bastard, and since he’s also driven towards his goals, this makes him a dangerous guy. However, if punching you in the face will get things done, he will probably just punch you in the face instead. Fair warning.

Skills and Abilities: On a basic level, Sho is strong. You probably wouldn’t want to get into a fistfight with him. But besides that, he’s a top-level reaper, and that adds a whole new level of nastiness to him.

In the UG, he has a whole cavalcade of attacks, such as energy waves, slashing swipes and the ability to move at incredible speeds and teleport short distances. In addition to this, he can summon Noise to help him, or take his own special Noise form, Leo Cantus. This is a wicked bipedal lion with incredible speed and strength, and is resistant to pretty much any attack, except from a proper Player team.

Unfair, right? Thankfully, all Reaper’s powers are weakened in the RG, so all of his abilities are cut down to around 1/8 of their usual power. He also can’t take full Noise form, but can create, say, a Noise arm or maybe a pair of Noise legs. His summoning ability has also been reduced to something close to useless.

Oh, and uh, I don’t know is this counts as anything, but he likes heaping trash into giant piles in random places. To him, it’s art, and it has some sort of effect on the power of his Imagination.

Personal Belongings: His favorite bandana and hat, along with his megaphone, and Leo pin. But since pins can only be used in the UG, it’s harmless.

He also has Hanekoma’s instructions on how to refine Taboo Sigils, but they’re missing.

Duelist Weapon: A large, heavy-looking cleaving blade that protrudes from a hilt sculpted to look like a lion’s head with it’s jaws agape. The handle is long and thick, requiring two hands at most times.

School Uniform: His usual outfit of a short, black overcoat and ripped dark grey cargo jeans will do just fine, thank you. Don’t forget the heavy boots for proper asskicking! And no, he will not be taking off his hat for you.

And since he looks so properly badass, he’ll be wearing the same thing into combat, plus some leather gloves to help him with that sword. Hooray for multifunctional clothing!

History:Sho is a Reaper in the aptly named “Reaper’s Game.” The premise of said game is, well, you’re only playing if you’re dead. And if you win, you get to live again! But it’s complicated. Really complicated.

The Game is controlled by a head of three people, the Composer, Conductor, and Producer. These three are classified as Angels. The Composer calls most of the shots, using his Imagination to Realize the Underground, where the game is played, and establishing the basic rules. The Conductor is second in command, keeping the Reapers in line and carrying out the Composer’s orders. Next is the Producer, who supports the Composer and logs his efforts, but is not allowed to interfere with the game. The Producer is also the only one who exists in both the Realground and Underground at the same time.

The game itself goes like this. People who have died, but the Composer deems worthy of a second chance, are brought into the game as Players. Each Player has to give up whatever is most important to them as an entry fee, which will be given back to them if they win. Then, the Player has seven days to complete seven missions in a pre-determined amount of time in order to win the game, the last mission usually being “Defeat the Game Master.” Also, the Player must partner with another Player if they hope for success, as the dangerous Noise in the Underground will not be harmed unless fought by a pair.

Items call Pins help the Player by Realizing their unique Imaginations to form attacks. There is also a special pin that allows the Player to scan an area for people’s thoughts in the Realground, and also detect hidden Noise.

Noise is social distortion caused in the Realground by unrestful thoughts of the people. Reapers summon and utilize this Noise to attack Players.

Reapers come in three types, Harriers, Supporters, and the Game Masters. Harriers are around to make the Player’s experience as miserable as it can possibly be by doing their best to keep the Player from reaching their daily mission goal. However, Harriers cannot directly interfere with the player (as in, touch them with their own bodies in any way) until the last day of the game. Supporters help the players by taking down walls set up by the Game Master once they meet a certain objective.

The Game Master is whatever Reaper is in charge of the current game. He sets up the mission objectives for each day, and if Players make it to the last day, he will fight them. Only high-level Reapers are allowed to be the Game Master.

It is rare for Players to win games, but when they do, they are given a choice. They can either return to the Realground and live again, or they can become a Reaper. Every Reaper has a shot at becoming the Composer. The only requisite is that you must find the Composer, and defeat him in battle. So essentially, the Composer is the strongest Reaper in the game.

Players who lose the game are simply “Erased,” they die permanently.

Now, we can start on Sho’s history.

It’s unknown as to how Sho died or became a Reaper, but we can logically assume that he won a game and chose to on his own. His ambition is simple; he wants to become the next Composer, and will do anything in his power to achieve that goal.

During the Composer’s and Conductor’s game to decide the fate of the Shibuya Underground, Sho is chosen to be Game Master. Unlike the other Reapers, Sho has picked up on this game, and has decided to use it to his advantage. Because the power gap between the Composer and Conductor is so great, the Composer had moved himself to the Realground, cutting his power, as a handicap for the Conductor. This gave Sho a great advantage, as he and the Composer are now closer in power.

Before he had even had a shot at Game Master, Sho had gone to the Realground to try and assassinate the Composer through manual means (aka: guns) at a very precarious time. You see, at the exact same moment, the Composer had been trying to kill Neku so he could be his Proxy in the game between him and the Conductor. Of course, Sho miscalculated and failed, also giving Neku the false impression that he was his murderer. Since, you know, you’re going to assume that the last guy you see with a gun in your life is the one that killed you.

So we fast forward to Neku’s second week in the game, where Sho is the Master. He is completely aware that Neku’s current partner, Joshua, is the Composer. But this time, he’s not going to make any mistakes. Using the knowledge of Taboo Sigil refinery given to him by Hanekoma (the Producer) Sho begins to pour Taboo Noise into the Underground, greatly hampering Neku’s progress.

On the last day of the Game, Sho invites Neku to fight him, and Neku accepts. Sho is just too powerful in his Taboo Noise form, and things look lost. However, as Sho gets his final attack ready, Joshua shields Neku from the blast. It seems as though both Joshua and Sho have been Erased.

Of course, they aren’t. Joshua fled to a parallel dimension, while Sho used this Erasure as a part of his plan to refine himself into a Taboo Reaper.

During this time is when Sho is taken to Jardin.

(And if you must know, no, Sho doesn’t succeed. He gets crushed beneath a pile of cars and vending machines instead.)

(I wish I were kidding)
